The CMiST laboratory space is currently shared with Dr. William DePaolo’s research group which occupies three laboratories on the third floor and a dedicated microscope room on the fourth floor of the K-wing in the Health Sciences Building (HSB) at the University of Washington Medical Center.

Main Laboratory (HSB K327A)

The main laboratory has eight lab benches and can comfortably support 8-15 people. The lab is designed with shared or touch down bench space for CMiST clinicians and junior faculty who may not have space of their own, but who are trying to obtain preliminary data for grants and independence. Dr. DePaolo will also offer mentorship and guidance to these individuals. This lab is equipped with BioRad RT-PCR, BioRad thermocycler, refrigerators and freezers, fume hoods, ice machine, Beckman Coulter high speed floor centrifuge, centrifuges and LI-COR Odyssey Fc system (Western blot, chemi and fluorescent, gel imaging).

Sterile Culture Room (HSB K327B)

The sterile culture room, is adjacent and can only be accessed through the main lab. This room is equipped with two Baker biosafety cabinets, Eppendorf CO2 incubators, centrifuge, refrigerator/freezer combo, Eppendorf Innova -80C freezer and a Leica inverted microscope and Leica upright microscope both with camera systems.

CMiST microscope suite (HSB K415)

A small room on the fourth floor houses a Leica laser microdissection microscope and a Leica fluorescent microscope.

Biosafety Level 2 Laboratory (HSB K331)

The BSL2 lab is next to the sterile culture room and is only accessible through the hallway and has a keypad lock. This lab is equipped with Eppendorf bacterial shakers, Eppendorf -80C, ThermoFischer spectrophotometer, refrigerator/freezer, Baker biosafety cabinet, Shell Lab 900 plate capacity anaerobic chamber, standing upright bacterial incubator, Eppendorf CO2 incubator and Bruker MALDI-TOF Biotyper.

CMiST office suite (HSB K443)

The office suite is located on the fourth floor, K443, and houses the Director’s office and the office of the CMiST Program Manager. The 600-square foot suite, includes the CMiST Lounge, furnished with a bar-height table and bar stools, outlets for charging laptops and mobile devices, a small sofa and coffee station.

The space was specifically designed to promote sharing and collaboration, while also being comfortable and quiet. The CMiST Lounge is for visiting faculty, clinicians, donors and vendors.
